“The only thing new in the world is the history you don’t know”
Jack Snellgrove is a retired minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). A native of Augusta, GA, he is married to Lana and they are parents of Chad (Melissa) and Clay (Erin). Five grandchildren (McKenzie, Emory, Canton, Cooper, and Beckett) keep life active and vibrant as they grow and invest themselves in academics, music, athletics, etc.
Married for 54 years, Jack and Lana are committed to growing in their relationship. Starting in 1976, they became involved with Marriage Enrichment and continue to be active in the Better Marriage of Georgia. They are certified leaders in Marriage Enrichment and lead workshops and retreats. LOVE is a verb and is defined by action. Consequently, the skills necessary to growing an intimate relationship is an ongoing process.
Retiring in 2008, Jack and Lana moved to Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC. Their waterfront home is situated amidst towering trees and allows for the enjoyment of nature. Named “Sanctuary,” the setting is ideal for meditation and reflection.
Retirement has certainly NOT been a retreat from life, just a break from work. Tennis, golf, walking, volunteering, combine with reading to fill up days and nights.
For Jack, cooking is an art form enjoyed as an essential need and as a creative outlet. Lana is also an excellent cook, consequently hosting (in non-pandemic times) friends and family is a joy. Committing to a PLANT BASED DIET (allows for seafood) adds to the excitement to find delicious recipes that are healthy AND taste good.
